Commentum super De Anima

Typology

Commentum

Date

1290 - 1320

  • The existence of this commentary was first signaled by Marmo (2004: 23, n18), who finds a reference to it in Gentile da Cingoli’s commentary on the Categories (Ms. Firenze, Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, Conv. Soppr. J. X. 30, f. 39rb).
  • Pinborg (1967: 97, n11) wondered whether the bibliographic list established by Grabmann should not also include a commentary on the De anima. But as Hissette (1979: 225) notes, the text to which Pinborg refers was in fact edited by Grabmann (1941: 68-88) and corresponds to his questio utrum species sensibilis vel intelligibilis habeat virtutem alterandi corpus ad caliditatem vel frigiditatem.
  • In the absence of precise references regarding the dating of the work, we limit ourselves to reporting the period of activity of the magister.
