Quaestiones supra Prisciano minori
- There are no precise references for dating the work (Martorelli Vico 1985: xix). We therefore limit ourselves to reporting the period of activity of Gentilis de Cingulo (1290-1320). Pinborg supposes that the questions were written at the beginning of this period, around 1290 (Pinborg 1967: 310).
- The work is not a literal commentary but a commentary per modum quaestionis on books XVII and XVIII of Priscian’s Institutiones grammaticae.
- As reported by Martorelli Vico, the text presents a notable gap at the end of the second quaestio (Utrum grammatica sit scientia sermocinalis): “mancano la risposta al quarto ed ultimo argomento nonché tutti gli argomenti e parte della solutio della nuova quaestio” (Martorelli Vico 1985: xxiii).
- In addition, the text is presumably incomplete, with the fourteenth question (Utrum haec sit congrua: ‘Sortes est fortissimus asinorum’) stopping at the beginning of the solutio (Martorelli Vico 1985: xxiii).
